Did you know that in 2008, 6 million Americans didn’t vote because they missed a registration deadline or didn’t know how to register? On September 22, the American Military Partner Association (AMPA) is teaming up with 1400 other organizations across the country to raise awareness and assist our communities in registering to vote.

We want to make sure ALL our members who are eligible to vote are registered! Every member who is eligible to vote is one more voice of advocacy for the LGBT military community. We still have many goals to accomplish, and our fight for equality can only be reached if our elected officials have our interests at heart.

There are seats of 471 members of Congress, 36 governors, and 46 state legislatures on the ballots during this year’s midterm elections. With so many important elections being held, millions of people, including members of AMPA, are registering to vote on National Voter Registration Day — an annual celebration started with the 2012 presidential election when thousands of people ensure our families, friends, and neighbors are registered to vote.

We need your help! AMPA will be holding voter registration events throughout the country on or around September 22, and we need you to sign up to lead a local event. If you are interested in helping, please email partners@militarypartners.org.
