Speakers and Honorees: A full lineup including the keynote speaker, featured speakers, honorees, and special guests to be announced soon.
Born into a military family, Brett Jones spent his early life traveling around the world, living in the shadows of the Iron Curtain, the Korean Demilitarized Zone, and the Pyramids of Egypt. He defied great odds to fulfill his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL, and served for almost a decade in the Navy. He served in two harrowing six-month deployments with SEAL Team 8, later becoming a plank owner of SEAL Team 10.
Brett received numerous awards and commendations during his Navy tenure, but was forced out of the closet, becoming the first openly gay Navy SEAL on active duty. After his honorable discharge in 2003, he continued his fight in the war against terror as a security contractor. Brett currently resides in northern Alabama with his husband, former police sergeant Jason White, and their son.
Kristin Beck is known to be the first transgender female Navy SEAL. She was thrust into the international spotlight after sharing her story on CNN with Anderson Cooper in June of 2013. She has become a passionate advocate for equality around the country and continues to appear in numerous major media outlets advocating for fairness and equality.
She distinguished herself with 20 years of exceptionally meritorious service with Special Operations Forces (SOF) in the SEAL teams. She conducted various special operations, including through human intelligence (HUMINT) and direct action missions in her thirteen deployments. Her final tours were with Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) to head the Special Reconnaissance units and various Task Forces as a HUMINT source handler and technical operations director.
